De acordo com o SUSv2,

devem retornar os bytes
.I len
(um hostname cortado, terminao nula ou no) quando
o hostname comprido.
Linux/Alpha (os quais tem uma chamada de sistema
.BR gethostname )
cumpre com este requerimento, mas a libc e glibc no
Linux/i386 somente retornan um erro neste caso.
.SH NOTAS
As definies de sucesso variam. SUSv2 define \fIgethostname()\fP
como `retorno hostname possivelmente cortado', e tendo um pequeno \fIlen\fP
no causa retorno de erro. Certamente deve ser possvel estar
certo que um tenha obtido o hostname completo, e para isto terminar SUSv2
guarante que `Host names so limitados para 255 bytes'.
