.SH NAME
PR_MCE_KILL_SET
\-
set the machine check memory corruption kill policy
.SH LIBRARY
Standard C library
.RI ( libc ,\~ \-lc )
.SH SYNOPSIS

.BR "#include <linux/prctl.h>" " /* Definition of " PR_* " constants */"
.B #include <sys/prctl.h>
.P
.BI "int prctl(PR_MCE_KILL, PR_MCE_KILL_SET, long " pol ", 0L, 0L);"

.SH DESCRIPTION
Use a thread-specific memory corruption kill policy.
.P
.I pol
defines whether the policy is
.I early kill
.RB ( PR_MCE_KILL_EARLY ),
.I late kill
.RB ( PR_MCE_KILL_LATE ),
or the system-wide default
.RB ( PR_MCE_KILL_DEFAULT ).
.P
Early kill means that the thread receives a
.B SIGBUS
signal as soon as hardware memory corruption is detected inside
its address space.
.P
In late kill mode, the process is killed only when it accesses a corrupted page.
See
.BR sigaction (2)
for more information on the
.B SIGBUS
signal.
.SH RETURN VALUE
On success,
0 is returned.
On error, \-1 is returned, and
.I errno
is set to indicate the error.
.SH ERRORS
.TP
.B EINVAL
.I pol
is not a valid value.
.SH STANDARDS
Linux.
