mh (6.8.4-28) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * maintainer name change
  * recompile to remove bad versioned libc6 dependancy
  * sbr/m_getfld.c: small patch from Peter Maydell to fix problems with
    segfault on include (closes Bug#30121)
  * mts/sendmail/smail.c: disable one string optimization which breaks
    with glibc2.1 (two parens added, patch from Christian Meder)
  * zotnet/mf/mf.c: don't use _cleanup as it's not available with glibc2.1
    anymore (patch from Christian Meder)

 -- Adam Di Carlo <aph@debian.org>  Fri, 15 Jan 1999 19:35:21 -0500

mh (6.8.4-27) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: invoke dh_strip properly for binary-arch, which is
    needed for binary-only porter uploads (closes Bug#28916)

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Wed,  4 Nov 1998 21:32:26 -0500

mh (6.8.4-26) unstable; urgency=low

  * rebuild for ncurses4
  * conf/MH: remove conf/MH-libc5, rename conf/MH-libc6 just to conf/MH,
    so no more symlinking in debian/rules
  * conf/MH: enable RPOP, even though this isn't highly recommended, so
    long as you aren't using the MH pop server and it's only on the
    client, I don't see the harm (closes Bug#28399)
  * in conf/MH, enable NORUSERPASS (closes Bug#23065)
  * zotnet/tws/dtime.c: fix for time during DST (closes Bug#22569,
    possibly Bug#23591)
  * uip/inc.c, zotnet/mts/lock.c: fix for segfaults on 'inc' from local
    spool (closes Bug#22962)
  * sbr: increase size for big sequences, cf.
    http://www.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb/ports/mail/mh/patches/patch-ad?rev=1.1
  * debian/control: conflicts and replaces nmh
  * debian/control: priority set to 'extra'
  * README.Debian: point out that MH is deprecated, in large, block
    letters, and even mention it in postinst
  * debian/rules: use dh_strip for better, more robust stripping; use
    debhelper conventions for temporary build locations

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Sun, 25 Oct 1998 12:30:06 -0500

mh (6.8.4-25) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * security paranoia: remove setuidness on install programs
    /usr/lib/mh/popwrd and /usr/lib/mh/spop; you'll have to manually
    setuid them if you care to, but it's not recommended. Now there are
    only two setgid mail programs (inc and msgchk), and no setuid ones.
    This fix prevents certain future security conditions, so should go
    into hamm.
  * /usr/lib/mh/replcomps: rollback what was done in -23 (closes
    Bug#22141, opens Bug#6030, which was fixed in the wrong way)

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Sun, 17 May 1998 23:36:18 -0400

mh (6.8.4-24) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * uip/scansbr.c: patch from Peter Maydell <pm215@cam.ac.uk> to notice
    during 'inc' when our disk is full (closes Bug#7870)
  * uip/inc.c: patch from Peter Maydell <pm215@cam.ac.uk> fixes the
    lockfile handling so that lockfiles are always removed in
    error-and-exit situations. Also, tidy up some of the privilege
    handling code so that it's more obvious that we're not misusing the
    setgid mail privilege.
  * zotnet/mts/lock.c: enable 'options LIBLOCKFILE', which is enabled in
    conf/MH-lib6, which adds liblockfile support for policy-compliant mail
    spool file locking. In conf/config/mtstailor we set lockstyle to 0 to
    allow this new support to work. Many thanks again to Peter Maydell
    <pm215@cam.ac.uk> for the patch. (closes Bug#20753)
  * sbr/m_getfld.c: yet another patch from Peter to deal with end-of-file
    in the middle of a field, i.e., without an end-of-line, in
    ~/.mh_profile (closes Bug#6027, Bug#6029)
  * README.Debian: for proper LOCALE support, we need to set LC_CTYPE as a
    locale, not LC_TYPE as a charset (documentation fix)
  * applied FreeBSD 'patch-ag', which helps us ignore mail files not
    ending in digits, like '1~' (closes Bug#22128)
  * debian/control: priority set to match what is reality in hamm (in
    slink, nmh may become standard and mh would be demoted to extra,
    although this is yet to be seen)
  * debian/rules: move some removals from clean to build target, since I
    don't like removing files from the upstream source in the clean
    target since it causes 'dpkg-source: warning: ignoring deletion of
    file' messages
  * debian/control: regularize package description
  * include READ-ME, FAQ, and CHANGES from upstream in /usr/doc/mh
  * standard compliance raised to 2.4.1 (copyright file needed some work)

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Tue, 12 May 1998 00:37:45 -0400

mh (6.8.4-23) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * Apply NLINK_HACK to speed up 'folders -fast -recurse' command, which
    now runs around 8 times faster. Patch from
    http://www.gw.com/mail/mh/patches/all/folder_st_nlink
  * Rework RFC 1522 compliance: ensure that ASCII subset is always decoded
    in mail headers, spaces between two encoded-words are ignored as they
    should be. Patches from Peter Maydell <pm215@cam.ac.uk>, who worked
    from the FreeBSD patches. (closes Bug#9166)
  * Fixed handing of unknown content types -- it treats unknown content
    types as multipart/mixed as per RFC 1521. Configured as UTK option,
    patches from Peter Maydell and somewhere else (closes Bug#18282)
  * altered mhl.format to bring it in line with what is documented (and
    reasonable)
  * update replcomps to reflect changes suggested by <kmb203@psu.edu>
    (closes Bug#6030, I think)
  * add a buildinfo.Debian file to the doc area

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Wed, 29 Apr 1998 01:32:51 -0400

mh (6.8.4-22) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: fix from James Troup, use 'cp -f', not 'cp' (closes
    Bug#21177)
  * postinst: call ldconfig appropriately (lintian)

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Fri, 17 Apr 1998 00:13:51 -0400

mh (6.8.4-21) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * default editor should be sensible-editor, not sensible pager
    (closes Bug#8595 also, incidentally)
  * maintainer scripts had a typo, referring to spopfi, instead of spop,
    which would prevent people not using suidmanager from being able to
    install (closes Bug#20938)
  * oops, depends and conffiles had gotten lost, that was *not* good; my
    apologies to anyone who installed 6.8.4-20 and lost conffiles!

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Fri, 10 Apr 1998 01:46:26 -0400

mh (6.8.4-20) frozen unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules: reworked for better abstraction, remove debstd use
  * link libmh.so.3.2 with -lc (closes Bug#16550)
  * README.debian updated and expanded, spelling corrections made
  * debian/README.mh-papers: README.Debian for mh-papers
  * default pager changed to /usr/bin/sensible-pager, default editor
    changed to /usr/bin/sensible-pager (policy compliance and closes
    Bug#17773)
  * uip/slocal.c, uip/rcvtty.c: replace utmp paths with _PATH_UTMP;
    conf/config/mts: replace /usr/lib/sendmail with _PATH_SENDMAIL
    (inspired by FreeBSD patches)
  * added options LOCALE and RFC1342 for mhconf, enabling RFC1342
    compatible decoding of header fields for non-ascii character sets
    (closes Bug#9166)
  * strip libmh.so and other binaries
  * make a few man page links (pgped and pgpshow to undocumented)
  * old stale bugs closed (closes Bug#6027, #6029, #15355)

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Tue,  7 Apr 1998 19:11:59 -0400

mh (6.8.4-19) frozen unstable; urgency=high

  * new maintainer
  * add frozen distribution (it should have been set for 6.8.4-18
    because of security bug fixes contained therein: 19370 & 20102)
  * urgency high, which really applies to getting -18 into frozen, not
    this version per se
  * manage source with CVS
  * spelling fix in description, expanded a little bit
  * did I mention this release was just to show new maintainership and to
    get the security fix into frozen? Bugs will be fixed RSN.

 -- Adam P. Harris <aph@debian.org>  Sun,  5 Apr 1998 20:40:27 -0400
