    <title>Linux Audio and Video Tools</title>
    <para>The lavtools suite of programs are for MJPEG recording and
    playback with simple cut and paste editing of the recorded
    files. Also supported is MPEG compression of the recorded files to
    various standards.</para>
    <para>Only the "lav" programs have been written from scratch, the
    rest of the tools are from diverse free software originals. They
    have been modified to work with the lav tools edit lists and
    AVI/Quicktime files. Some have had more major performance and
    functionality enhancements.</para>
