<h2>Introduction</h2>

<para>Use the <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> control to display an image that responds to mouse clicks. </para>
<para>Both the <see cref="E:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.Click" /> and <see cref="E:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.Command" /> events are raised when the <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> control is clicked.</para>
<para>You can use the <see cref="M:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.OnCommand(System.Web.UI.WebControls.CommandEventArgs)" /> event handler to make the <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> control behave like a Command button. A command name can be associated with the control by using the <see cref="P:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.CommandName" /> property. This allows multiple <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> controls to be placed on the same Web page. The value of the <see cref="P:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.CommandName" /> property can then be programmatically identified in the <see cref="M:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.OnCommand(System.Web.UI.WebControls.CommandEventArgs)" /> event handler to determine the appropriate action to perform when each <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> control is clicked. The <see cref="P:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.CommandArgument" /> property can also be used to pass additional information about the command, such as specifying ascending order.</para>

<para>Validation groups allow you to assign validation controls on a page to a specific category. Each validation group can be validated independently of other validation groups on the page. Use the <see cref="P:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.ValidationGroup" /> property to specify the name of the validation group for which the <see cref="T:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton" /> control causes validation when it posts back to the server. This property has an effect only when the value of the <see cref="P:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton.CausesValidation" /> property is set to true.
