An <span class="c15">ftp client</span> is a
program that you use to transfer files between
computers using the ftp protocol. The UNIX
command-line program <span class="c16">ftp</span>
is a text-based ftp client. (This client is also
available on Windows and Macintosh OS X. ) FTP
clients that offer a graphical user interface are
available for most platforms. Instructions on how
to use the command-line version of ftp that is
available for Windows, Unix, Linux, and Macintosh
OS X can be found at

Downloading through a Web browser is usually
easier than using an ftp client. Try clicking
the link for the file you want in the table
above. Most modern browsers handle ftp
downloads correctly. If you get no response or
