Liebert UPSs can work in either smart or contact-closure mode.
The smart mode is subject to an NDA, so this driver implements
the contact closure method.
The cable that Liebert supplies (or which you can make yourself
following instructions on Lieberts website) doesn't make use of
the standard contact closure signals, making it impossible to
use genericups. Hence this customised driver.
The cable (Liebert calls it a MultiLink cable, thus the name
of the model) uses TX/RX for on battery, and RTS/DCD for low
battery. The driver checks for on battery by sending a byte
to the serial port and trying to read it in. If it succeeds,
the on battery condition is set.
Low battery is determined the usual way, ie asserting RTS and
signalling low battery if DCD goes high.
Note that the cable doesn't allow driving the inverter shutdown
input, so that function is not supported by the driver.
