This sample form is divided into three sections, each demonstrating one of the three methods of <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xddatavalidation')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xddatavalidation')">data validation</a>: schema-based validation, custom validation, and script-based validation.</p><p>To test the features of the sample form, simply choose any field and enter data that does not comply with the validation constraint that is associated with it. The validation constraints can be viewed by resting the mouse pointer over the question mark icon next to each field. When you move the cursor out of the field, you receive one of two possible error indications: an <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xdinlinealert')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xdinlinealert')">inline alert</a> or a <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xddialogboxalert')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xddialogboxalert')">dialog box alert</a>.</p><p><b>Note</b> To see all of the files that make up the Data Validation developer sample form, open the form and click
<b class="ui">Extract Form Files</b> on the <b class="ui">File</b>
menu while in <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xddesignmode')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xddesignmode')">design mode</a>. This extracts all of the <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xdformfiles')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xdformfiles')">form files</a> from the <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'xdformtemplate')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'xdformtemplate')">form template</a>
