However, the <b class="bterm">Research</b> task pane cannot communicate with an ordinary class library in DLL form; you must build the research service as an XML Web service. You can host the local Web service in the following ways:<ul><li>With Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), just as you would host the service on a remote server.</li><li>On a third-party or custom HTTP server that supports XML Web services and SOAP requests and responses. </li></ul></p><p>If you are looking for a compact Web server implementation, you may want to examine the <a href="http://r.office.microsoft.com/r/rlidAWSContentRedir?AssetID=XT010938261033&CTT=11&Origin=HV010822751033" target="_new">Cassini Sample Web Server</a> project, available with full source code from the "Source Projects" section of the ASP.NET Web site at http://www.asp.net.</p><p><b>Important</b> Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) does not provide support for research services hosted on platforms other than IIS.</p><center><a href="XMLSchemaCopyright_HV01147162.htm">©2003-2004 Microsoft Corporation.
