The default value is "plain".</p><p>Note that if the matched XML <a href="#" class="glossary" onclick="AppendPopup(this,'ofdocumentobjectmodeldom')" onkeypress="AppendPopup(this,'ofdocumentobjectmodeldom')">Document Object Model (DOM)</a> node does not support the full editing services specified, the effective type is downgraded appropriately (this means downgrading to "plain"). For example, an attribute node will behave as plain even if set to rich.
