omniORB on Mac OS platforms.
============================
This file contains information on installing, building, and using
omniORB on Mac OS (Classic, Carbon and Mach-O) platforms.
omniORB has been tested with the following software configuration:
- Operating System : Mac OS 9, X
- Architecture : Classic
- Compiler : Metrowerks CodeWarrior 8.3
- POSIX Library : GUSI 2.2.3
If you need a Darwin version, please refer to README.unix.
Roadmap
=======
The directory structure of this distribution looks as follows:
<Top>: : Folder where distribution was unpacked
<Top>:readmes : platform specific readme files
<Top>:doc : omniORB documentation
<Top>:man : omniORB manual pages
<Top>:mk : make configuration files
<Top>:config : configuration files for target platform
<Top>:etc : zip files
<Top>:include : include files
<Top>:src : source files
<Top>:src:lib:omnithread : source files for the omnithread library
<Top>:src:lib:omniORB : source files for the ORB runtime library
<Top>:src:tool:omniidl : source files for the IDL compiler
<Top>:src:appl:omniNames : source files for the COS Naming service
<Top>:src:appl:utils : source files for utilities
<Top>:src:examples : source files for examples
To build with CodeWarrior, some extra files are required in the
contrib directory. These files are available in <Top>:etc:macos.zip.
Unpack the zip file at the <Top> folder. That creates the following
folder:
<Top>:contrib:CodeWarrior : Mac specific files and CodeWarrior projects
Configuration
=============
You will need to build omniORB for Darwin once before you can build a
Mac OS version using CodeWarrior. This initial build creates the
executables and the stub code included in the project file.
Installation
============
Using CodeWarrior import the omniORB.mcp.xml file and save it as a
project into the :contrib:CodeWarrior folder. The CodeWarrior project
assumes that the GUSI library resides in the folder GUSI2 at the same
level as the <Top>. Please adjust your paths if required.
Build the targets you need.
