Building this package for Debian
--------------------------------
This source package need no special handling for normal package builds.
Maintaining packaging build routines
------------------------------------
This source package wraps debhelper commands and other parts of
the build routines using the CDBS framework. Please refer to the actual
makefile snippets included from debian/rules for details on their
purpose and ways to override defaults.
Developing this package for Debian
----------------------------------
The source of this package is developed using git and the helper tool
git-buildpackage, with all official releases tagged and signed and
binary diffs of tarballs stored using pristine-tar. This is documented
below /usr/share/doc/git-buildpackage/manual-html/ .
Setting DEB_MAINTAINER_MODE=1 enables additional build routines helpful
during development of the package, but unfit for normal builds. This
typically includes the CDBS feature of auto-updating debian/control with
CDBS-related build-dependencies, which is forbidden by Debian Policy as
generating build-dependencies without human intervention is potentially
harmful and should not change automated builds (see
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=311724).
Patches naming convention
-------------------------
This package uses special naming convention for patches. A leading number
should be present to indicate:
0xxx: grabbed from upstream
1xxx: interesting for submission upstream
2xxx: Debian-specific
The xxx part of the number is just a sequence number barely related to
the chronological order of patch addition: its main purpose is to
be able to distinguish patches with similar names and goals.
The leading number is not related to the order in which the patches
are applied (look at the series file for that information).
