 Installing Osiris
 =================

  This document does not include an overview of Osiris components. See the
  README file included with this package, or see:

      http://www.hostintegrity.com/osiris

  for detailed information about usage or background.

  Requirements:

    o ANSI-C compiler
    o OpenSSL 0.9.6j or newer.
    o MinGW and Msys (if compiling on Windows)

  Binary versions and a graphical installer is available for Windows
  NT/2k/XP if installing from source seems too bothersome for you.

  1. configure source:

    $ ./configure

    The following configure options exist:

     --with-ssl-dir=PATH      path to OpenSSL installation
     --with-root-dir=DIR osiris data root (default $PREFIX/osiris)
     --with-osiris-user=USER  osiris username (default "osiris")

    The osiris username is the user that will be created or used that the
    daemons will run as. Do not use the root user!

  2. Build and make installation package(s). To build just the scan
     agent:

    $ make agent

    To build the management console:

    $ make console

    After building, an installer package will be created in src/install/ that
    will note the platform the package is valid for, e.g:

        osiris-agent-4.0.0-powerpc-Darwin-7.3.0.tar.gz

  3. Distributre the package, then unpack and run the installer script.

        $ tar xfz osiris-agent-4.0.0-powerpc-Darwin-7.3.0.tar.gz
        $ cd osiris-4.0.0
        $ sudo ./install.sh

  4. Read the user guide that came with the source, or online at:
     http://www.hostintegrity.com/osiris

   System compatibility:

    Osiris should compile and run on most major unix and Windows systems.
	The following is a list of platforms that Osiris has been tested on.

           - Darwin/Mac OS X
           - Linux
           - FreeBSD
           - OpenBSD
           - AIX
           - IRIX
           - Solaris 7,8,9
	   - Windows 2000
           - Windows XP
