To test PerlPrimer
──────────────────
1) Start either by the command line (perlprimer), the Debian menu
(Applications/Science/Biology) or the FreeDesktop menu (Applications/Science,
Applications/Education or Applications/Biology).
2) Retreive remotely a sequence from ENSEMBL (that breaks often because
of API changes). Click on the “e!” button, and select for instance
neurog1 from Danio_rerio (my pet gene). If that does not work, you can
start from the file test.ppr in this directory.
3) Expand the search range by clicking on the “+10” button. Click on the “Find
primers” button. Note that on some small screens, the button may be out of the
desktop boundaries… Sequences should appear in the “Results” area.
4) That is all for basic testing. PerlPrimer saves its configuration in
‘~/.perlprimer’. Feel free to delete it if you are not a PerlPrimer user.
