.TH "DTDTREE" "1"
.SH "NAME"
dtdtree \(em generate a tree view of an SGML Document Type Definition (DTD)
.SH "SYNOPSIS"
.PP
\fBdtdtree\fP [options ] < \fIfile\fP
.SH "DESCRIPTION"
.PP
\fBdtdtree\fP is a filter which expects an SGML DTD
on STDIN and sends a tree view of an SGML DTD to STDOUT. Unlike
\fBdtd2html\fP, the output of \fBdtdtree\fP is plain text, rather than a navigable hypertext document.
.PP
\fBdtdtree\fP is one of a suite of tools available
in the perlSGML package, which together help one inspect, study,
and edit if necessary, an SGML Document Type Definitions
(DTD). The package was written by Earl Hood
(ehood@medusa.acs.uci.edu).
.PP
This manual page was written for the \fBDebian GNU/Linux\fP distribution
because the original program does not have a manual page.
Instead, it has documentation in the \fBHTML\fP format; see below.
.SH "OPTIONS"
.PP
This program takes the following command-line options:
.IP "\fB-catalog\fP \fIfile\fP " 10
Use \fIfile\fP to map public identifiers
and external entities to system files.
.IP "\fB-dtd\fP \fIfile\fP " 10
Parse the DTD named by \fIfile\fP.
Otherwise, read from STDIN.
.IP "\fB-help\fP" 10
Print a brief usage description. No other action is performed.
.IP "\fB-level\fP \fI#\fP" 10
Set the prune level of the content hierarchy tree to
\fI#\fP. Defaults to 15.
.IP "\fB-treefile\fP \fIfile\fP" 10
Output element content tree(s) to \fIfile\fP rather than STDOUT.
.IP "\fB-verbose\fP" 10
Ouput to standard error messages of what
\fBdtdtree\fP is doing.
This option is mainly for debugging purposes.
.SH "SEE ALSO"
.PP
dtd2html (1), dtddiff (1), dtdview (1), and stripsgml (1).
These commands, as well as perlSGML's library of Perl modules
for parsing of the SGML DTD's are documented fully by
\fI \fIThe perlSGML Manual\fP (link to URL http://www.oac.uci.edu/indiv/ehood/perlSGML/doc/html/perlSGML.html) \fR.
.SH "AUTHOR"
.PP
This manual page was written by Susan G. Kleinmann sgk@debian.org for
the \fBDebian GNU/Linux\fP system (but may be used by others).
