 <sect2 xml:id="migration72.other-changes.utf8_-functions-to-ext-standard">
  <title>Moving of <function>utf8_encode</function> and <function>utf8_decode</function></title>

  <para>
   The <function>utf8_encode</function> and <function>utf8_decode</function>
   functions have now been moved to the standard extension as string functions, whereas before 
   the <link linkend="book.xml">XML</link> extension was required for them to be available.

  <title>Changes to <function>mail</function> and <function>mb_send_mail</function></title>

  <para>
   The $additional_headers parameter of <function>mail</function> and
   <function>mb_send_mail</function> now also accepts an <type>array</type>
   instead of a <type>string</type>.

  <title>LMDB support</title>

  <para>
   The <link linkend="book.dba">DBA</link> extension now has support for LMDB.
  </para>

  <title>Changes to the PHP build system</title>

  <itemizedlist>
   <listitem>
    <simpara>
     Unix: Autoconf 2.64 or greater is now required to build PHP.
    </simpara>
   </listitem>
   <listitem>
    <simpara>
     Unix: <literal>--with-pdo-oci</literal> configure argument no longer needs 
     the version number of the Oracle Instant Client.
    </simpara>
   </listitem>
   <listitem>
    <simpara>
     Unix: <literal>--enable-gd-native-ttf</literal> configure argument has been 
     removed. This was not used since PHP 5.5.0.
    </simpara>
   </listitem>
   <listitem>
    <simpara>
     Windows: <literal>--with-config-profile</literal> configure argument has been 
     added. This can be used to save specific configures, much like the magical 
     <filename>config.nice.bat</filename> file.
    </simpara>

  <title>Changes to <link linkend="book.image">GD</link></title>

     <function>imageantialias</function> is now also available if compiled with
     a system libgd.

   </listitem>
   <listitem>
    <simpara>
     <function>imagegd</function> stores truecolor images as real truecolor
     images. Formerly, they have been converted to palette.
    </simpara>
   </listitem>

  <title>Moving <link linkend="book.mcrypt">MCrypt</link> to PECL</title>

  <para>
   The <link linkend="book.mcrypt">MCrypt</link> extension has now been moved
   out of the core to PECL. Given the mcrypt library has not seen any updates
   since 2007, its usage is highly discouraged. Instead, either the
   <link linkend="book.openssl">OpenSSL</link> or <link linkend="book.sodium">Sodium</link>
   extension should be used.

 <sect2 xml:id="migration72.other-changes.session-module-name">
  <title><function>session_module_name</function></title>

  <para>
   Passing <literal>"user"</literal> to <function>session_module_name</function>
   now raises an error of level <constant>E_RECOVERABLE_ERROR</constant>. Formerly,
   this has been silently ignored.
  </para>
