pyrite for DEBIAN
-----------------
This is the Debian version of Pyrite; as I am the upstream
author as well, it is generated directly from my working sources.
Note: This software used to be called "PalmPython". I changed the
name to follow Palm Computing's trademark guidelines. (I never
really liked "PalmPython" anyway; too many people though it meant
"Python interpreter that actually runs on the handheld".)
Upgrading to 0.7.x from previous versions: The 0.7.x is a nearly total
rewrite, with many new and changed interfaces. Please see the
documentation (specifically /usr/doc/pyrite/README.0.7.0) for more
details.
Among other things, the configuration file format has changed. The
new format is similar to the one used by APT, and allows more
flexibility in how option values are specified. Old configuration
files WILL NOT WORK. Please take a look at /usr/doc/sample.conf, copy
it to either /etc/palm.conf (for system-wide defaults) or ~/.palm.conf
(for user-specific defaults), and edit appropriately. Beginning with
0.7.4, Pyrite will attempt to "do the right thing" by assuming
reasonable default values and creating directories automatically, but
some things (the default user name, for example) must be set in a
configuration file in order for Pyrite to operate properly.
