There is a new release of the Windows NT Python and WPY ports
available on ftp.interet.com, www.python.org and mirrors. The
ports other than the NT ports are not affected. Users of the
NT ports should get the new files:
pyth_nt.zip Python character mode (no DLLs required).
wpy_nt.zip WPY for Windows NT (needs NEW msoftdll and py13an).
npwpynt.zip Netscape plugin DLL for NT (no DLLs required).
In the continuing pursuit of simplicity, I have eliminated the
need for any DLLs except for wpy_nt. So the character-mode Python
runs by itself, and the Netscape DLL is the only one required for
Netscape. There are no *.pyd files for any of the ports.
WPY still requires the DLL py13an.dll, and you must also get the
new Microsoft DLLs in msoftdll.exe. These support the latest
MFC 4.0.
The big news is that you can now use Mark Hammond's Py130-1.dll
Python core DLL with WPY. Many thanks to Julio Carrera
<Julio.Carrera@FMR.Com> for doing the testing and suffering
through some false starts. Wpy_nt will first search for py13an.dll,
and if it doesn't find it, it will use Py130-1.dll (this is the
reverse of the old search order). So you can use Mark's Python
and socket improvements. My py13an.dll is just a port of the 1.3
distribution (almost).
