Enhancing the Real Time Controls Laboratory</A>
</H1>
The Real Time Controls Laboratory is completely Open Source. Thus, as
an end user you are encouraged to change any part of the source code
to make it more useful for your particular application. 

<P>
There are several ways to enhance RTiC-Lab:

<LI>change actual existing RTiC-Lab code to reflect your particular
needs (this is only recommended for serious programmers).

<P>

<LI>writing soft real time modules (stand-alone applications in Linux
that communicate with <TT>xrtic</TT> via an easy to use application
programming interface). This is described in detail in this chapter.

</LI>
<LI>writing I/O drivers. These take the form of functions accessed
by RTiC-Lab in the embedded space. This is described also in this chapter.

Regardless of which approach is taken, the user is highly
encouraged to contribute to the RTiC-Lab project by sharing your
modules and code alterations with the rest of the RTiC-Lab community.
