[ Please note that the patches described here have already been applied
to Debian's version of crxvt.
-- Brian Mays <brian@debian.org> ]
Here we provide the xcin_patch-1 for rxvt 2.4.5 version:
This patch has the two effects:
1. It will add the xcin-input support to rxvt.
2. It will add 2-byte movement support to rxvt. That is, if you use an
editor for Chinese and it cannot handle the moving of the cursor
correctly around Chinese characters, this patch will help you to fix
it.
To apply the patch, just type:
patch -p0 < xcin_patch-1
command in this directory.
After doing the patches, you can go to the rxvt-2.4.5/ directory and start
the installation of the program. Please read the INSTALL file and documents
in doc/ directory. For quick start, you can run
configure --enable-big5
make
make install
To run rxvt, there are several options you may need:
rxvt [-fg <foreground color>] [-bg <background color>]
[-fn <english font>] [-fc <chinese font>]
[-2 (if you apply the wb_move_patch)]
===========================================================================
Note 1.
By default, the 2-byte movement function will NOT start. You
have to apply an option
rxvt -2 .....
^^
to start it.
Note 2.
If you want to use bash Meta key functions like:
Alt-B: backward one word.
Alt-F: forward one word.
Alt-P: recall history.
and find that rxvt cannot handle it correctly, you can try to
edit the "$HOME/.inputrc" and add the followin lines in it:
Meta-f: forward-word
Meta-b: backward-word
Meta-p: non-incremental-reverse-search-history
See "man bash" and search for the key words: "READLINE",
"Readline Initialization", "Readline Key Bindings", and
"Readline Command Names" for details.
