design of saydate:

The original program came from saytime (couldn't find a
home page but it's available in many places on the net
including www.tucows.com)

Check to see if your system supports sounds

       # record 4 seconds of audio from microphone
       dd bs=8k count=4 </dev/audio >sample.au

       # play back sound
       cat sample.au >/dev/audio

stored voice files using demos/xs.tcl (tcl/tk audio program)
http://www.speech.kth.se/SNACK/

 - record using:
    Sample rate = 8000
    Encoding = Mulaw
    Channel = Mono
 - highlight selected voice area on screen
 - edit and crop
 - save as file .au format

convert .au files to raw format using the au2raw script file supplied.
    Example: au2raw filename
