the function allocates, initializes, and returns a new object.</para>
<para>Otherwise, the object is initialized and the address of
the object is returned. If <literal>mysql_init</literal>
allocates a new object, it is freed when
<literal>mysql_close</literal> is called to close the connection.</para>
