The GNU Shepherd was initially written by Wolfgang Jährling ca. 2003, when it
was known as GNU dmd.  We are grateful to Wolfgang for starting this project
and shaping its initial vision, and to fellow hackers who supported him at the
time.

A lot happened since the project was revived in 2013.  See the Git version
control history for a list of co-authors of code and for acknowledgments for
those who helped in other ways: reporting bugs, suggesting changes, and more.
