Welcome to StarDict
StarDict is a Cross-Platform and international dictionary written in Gtk2. It has powerful features such as "Glob-style pattern matching," "Scan selected word," "Fuzzy query," etc.
Here is an introduction to using StarDict:
1. Glob-style pattern matching
You can input strings containing '*' (wildcard) and '?' (joker) as the pattern. '*' matches an arbitrary, possibly empty, string, and '?' matches an arbitrary character. After pressing Enter, the words that match this pattern will be shown in the list.
2. Fuzzy query
When you can't remember how to spell a word exactly, you can try StarDict's Fuzzy query. It uses "Levenshtein Edit Distance" to compute the similarity between two words, and gives the match results which are most similar to the word that you input. To create a fuzzy query, just input the word with a beginning "/", and then press Enter.
3. Scan selected word
Turn on the check button at the bottom-left corner of the StarDict window to activate this feature. When this feature is on, StarDict will automatically look up words, phrases, and Chinese characters in other applications. Just highlight a word or phrase with your mouse, and a floating window will pop up showing the definition of the selected word.
4. Dictionary management
Click the "Manage dictionaries" button at the bottom-right corner of the window to access the dictionary management dialog. From here, you can disable some dictionaries that you don't need, and set the dictionaries' quering order.

Vitajte v programe StarDict!
Ak chcete program ukončiť, stlačte Ctrl+Q. Ak chcete okno programu minimalizovať, stlačte Alt+Z, ak chcete okno skryť, stlačte Alt+X.
Ak chcete vymazať obsah vstupného poľa, stlačte Alt+C alebo ESC.
Ak chcete presunúť kurzor do vstupného pole, stlačte medzerovník.
Ak hľadané heslo nebolo nájdené, stlačením tabulátora sa presuniete na prvé heslo v zozname slov.
Označením slova myšou a stlačením prostredného tlačítka myši nad definičnou alebo oznamovacou oblasťou označené slová vyhľadáte v slovníku.
Pri vyhľadávaní môžete použiť hviezdičkovú konvenciu: hviezdička (*) nahradzuje ľubovolný reťazec znakov, otáznik (?) nahradzuje práve jeden ľubovolný znak.
Pokiaľ pred hľadané heslo predradíte lomítko (/), môžete vyhľadávať aj slová, ktorých presný pravopis nepoznáte (rozšírené hľadanie).
Pokiaľ sa v plávajúcom okne objaví správa, že hľadané heslo nebolo nájdené, dvojitým kliknuté spustíte rozšírené vyhľadávanie.
Vitajte v programe StarDict!
StarDict je multiplatformový medzinárodný slovník využívajúci knižnicu Gtk2. Podporuje vyhľadávanie s použitím hviezdičkovej konvencie a vyhľadávanie nepresnezadaných hesiel, umožňuje zobraziť definíciu hesiel z iných aplikácií v plávajúcom okne.
Tu je stručný návod na používanie:
1. Vyhľadávanie s použitím hviezdičkovej konvencie:
Do vstupného poľa môžete zadať vzor obsahujúci zástupné znaky „*“ a „?“. Hviezdička zastupuje ľubovolný reťazec znakov, otáznik zastupuje práve jeden ľubovolný znak. Po stlačení klávesu Enter program vyhľadá všetky heslá vyhovujúce zadanému vzoru a vypíše ich v zozname hesiel v ľavej časti obrazovky.
2. Rozšírené vyhľadávanie
Pokiaľ nepoznáte presný pravopis hľadaného hesla, môžete vyskúšať rozšírené vyhľadávanie. Pri ňom StarDict vyhľadáva heslá, ktoré sa najviac podobajú zadanému slovu na základe Levenshteinovej vzdialenosti. Pre spustenie rozšíreného vyhľadávania stačí pred hľadané heslo napísať lomítko (/) a po zadaní stlačiť Enter.
3. Skenovanie výberu (zobrazenie definície slova v plávajúcom okne)
Ak narazíte v ktorejkoľvek aplikácií na neznáme slovo, nemusíte ho prepisovať do vstupného poľa StarDict. Stačí v ľavom dolnom rohu hlavného okna programu StarDict zaškrtnúť voľbu „Skenovať výber“ a StarDict bude automaticky zobrazovať definície slov označených myšou.
4. Výber slovníkov
Ak kliknete na tlačítko „Výber slovníkov“, zobrazí sa dialógové okno, v ktorom si môžete zvoliť, ktoré z dostupných slovníkov chcete prehľadávať a v akom poradí.
Prehlásenie: Tento program je šírený v nádeji, že bude užitočný, ale bez akejkoľvek záruky, teda aj bez záruky, že nájdená definícia, pravopis, výslovnosť a iné informácie budú správne.
