 - Organize sourcing of files in a way which permits them to be read in a
   certain order like in "/etc/*emacs*/site-start.d/"?  Would this actually
   be worthwhile?
   
 - Get rid of bashisms and apply POSIX shell syntax only.

 - Add support for other shells. Anyone? (apply Bug#147696)
