<H3>Generic Device Methods</H3>
The following methods are available with any device.
<P><PRE>
    getName()
    getX()
    getY()
    apply(&lt;accessPoint&gt;)
    remove()
</PRE>
<P>The <CODE>getName</CODE><A NAME="1"> method</A> returns a string containing the
name of the device. The <CODE>getX</CODE><A NAME="2"> and</A> <CODE>getY</CODE><A NAME="3">
methods</A> return the current position in instrument coordinates of
the device if it has actually been applied to an instrument.
Otherwise they return zero. The return values are also zero
if the device has been applied to an instrument and removed
again.
