 <tt>\roman{counter}</tt>
<p>
 This command  causes the current value of <tt>counter</tt> to be printed  
 in roman numerals.   
 The <tt>\roman</tt> command causes lower case roman numerals, i.e.,
 i, ii, iii, ...,  while  the <tt>\Roman</tt>  command  causes  upper  case  roman
 numerals, i.e., I, II, III...
