<h1>3. Settings<br>
</h1>
You will get access to settings by using the popup menu of the left
view. Please note that settings are automatically saved when you exit
TiLP2.<br>
<h2>3.1 Device </h2>
The box is the following:<br>
<br>
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="device.png"
style="width: 308px; height: 315px;"><br>
</div>
<br>
1°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Cable</span> : let you
select a cable from a list<br>
2°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Port </span>: let you
choose a port from a list. The correspondance is done below<br>
3°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Calc</span> : let you choose
an handheld<br>
4°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Timeout </span>: default
timeout in tenth of seconds (1/10 s). <font size="3">This determines
how long TiLP will wait for a response before
displaying an error message. It is strongly recommended not to
decrease the value below 1.5s or you may get transmission errors. <br>
Please note that during FLASH transfers, this value is <span
style="font-style: italic;">automatically</span> increased to 10
seconds.</font><br>
5°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Delay </span>: inter-bit
delay for serial/parallel cable in micro-seconds. <font size="3">
The lower the value is, the faster the transfer will be. However, the
transmission will become unstable (transmissions errors) if you try and
go too fast. 10µs is the optimal value. If you have a fast
calculator (TI89/92/92+), you can decrease it.<br>
6°) USB scan at startup: attempt to automatically find FLASH
handhelds plugged on SilverLink or DirectLink at startup. If OS sending
failed and you need to restart TiLP,
<span style="font-weight: bold;">disable</span> this option.<br>
7°) The button at the right runs a full probing: TiLP will search
for all link cables and all handhelds. This take some time (~20
seconds).<br>
<span style="font-style: italic;">Beware:</span> probing the old
non-FLASH handhelds thru SilverLink may not work...<br>
<br>
The list at the bottom of the box is used to list probed devices
(cables+calcs).
<br>
It always list SilverLink cable and USB devices, no more. If you want
to get more devices, you have to click the 'Search' button.<br>

Note that SilverLink or DirectLink cables are counted in the
order they have been plugged. <br>
Imagine you have a Titanium handheld with both SilverLink and
DirectLink cables (it's possible !). SilverLink cable will be on port
#1 and DirectLink on port #2.<br>
Imagine you have a TI84+/SilverLink and a Titanium/DirectLink, then
SilverLink -> port #1 and DirectLink -> port #2.<br>
<br>
Note : your handheld with DirectLink must be ON before doing any
operation !<br>

<font size="3">With TiLP2, you will always set the port to <span
style="font-style: italic;">null</span>. The framework will choose the
right port for you.<br>
<br>
If you want to use TiLP for exchanging data with
an emulator (such as VTi under Windows or TiEmu under Linux/Win32),
you will have to select <i>Vti</i> or <i>TiEmu</i>. TiLP must be
launched AFTER the emulator.<br>
</font>
<h2>3.2 General Options </h2>
This part has been greatly simplified in TiLP2. There are now few
options they can be set-up in 2 ways:<br>
- by the Options box,<br>
- by the left/right popup menus.<br>
<br>
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="options.png"
style="width: 276px; height: 235px;"><br>
</div>
<br>
<font size="3"><i>1°) File displaying</i>: determine whether TiLP
will display all files or TI files only.<br>
2°) </font><font size="3"><i>File/Variables</i> : when this box is
checked, TiLP will ask for confirmation for operations such as
deleting files, overwriting files, or overwriting calculator variables
(a directory listing is performed before sending any variable)</font>.<br>
3°)<font size="3"><i> Path </i>: request TiLP to send variables
to the current folder (local) or to the original folder (full).
This works only with TI9x calculators </font><font size="3">(89/92/92+/V200)</font><font
size="3">.<br>
This option is now disabled for 2 reasons:<br>
- TiLP have no way to know the default folder where variables will be
placed,<br>
- TiLP is now able to send variables directly to a given folder.<br>
</font>4°) <font size="3"><i>Receive as </i>: determine the way
TiLP
will save received variables. In single mode, TiLP saves each variables
into its own file. In group mode, TiLP saves the set of variables into
a
single file (called group). <br>
Note: this option does not apply to TI82/85 yet. Multiple variables are
always saved at once (single or group). Use the popup menu to degroup
the file if needed.<br>
5°) <span style="font-style: italic;">Backup/Restore with</span> :
determines whether TiLP2 will use backup/group files (as TiLP and
TI-GRAPH LINK software) or TiGroup files (like Ti-Connect does) for
backup and restore operations.<br>
<br>
</font>
<div style="text-align: center;"><font size="3"><img alt=""
src="popup_remote.png" style="width: 154px; height: 174px;"><img alt=""
src="popup_local.png" style="width: 228px; height: 118px;"><br>
</font>
<div style="text-align: left;">As you will see in the remote popup
menu, you can (un)check the <span style="font-style: italic;">Path </span>and
the <span style="font-style: italic;">Receive as</span>. Same apply
for the local popup menu by the <span style="font-style: italic;">Options</span>
sub-menu.<br>
</div>
</div>
<h2>3.3 Screenshot Options </h2>
This box is accessible only from the <span style="font-style: italic;">Screenshot</span>
box (see later) :<br>
<br>
<div style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="scr_options1.png"
style="width: 276px; height: 202px;"><img alt="" src="scr_options2.png"
style="width: 276px; height: 202px;"><br>
</div>
<br>
<span style="font-style: italic;">Screen Format </span>:<br>
- <span style="font-style: italic;">screen mode </span>: <font
size="3">the TI89 calculator has an interesting
peculiarity: its screen (LCD) is smaller than one in a TI92(+), but the
real screen (in terms of memory) has the same size as a TI92(+). You
can see the LCD as a rectangular window. </font><font size="3">If you
select the <i>full</i> button, TiLP will
display the whole TI89 screen from the calculator's memory; otherwise,
it will only display the portion visible on the actual TI89's screen
(LCD).</font>
<p> </p>
- <span style="font-style: italic;">gray-scale</span> : <font size="3">the
<i>emulate</i> button
may be useful for people who want to release screenshots on their
websites. When this button is checked, TiLP saves images using emulated
grayscales (that is to say, it replaces the black pixels with dark
pixels and white pixels with green pixels). In fact, images saved by
this feature look just like those gotten from VTi.</font> <br>
<br>
<span style="font-style: italic;">File Format</span> : <font size="3">TiLP
can capture the calculator's screen
and save the image in many different formats : PNG, JPEG, XPM, BMP. PDF
& EPS are mostly document formats.</font><br>
