PingoS Tipptrainer
==================
(eine deutsche Version ist in README.deutsch zu finden)

The PingoS Tipptrainer is a program to learn touch typing. It
supports german and english in languag and keyboard layout.

If you find a bug in Tipptrainer, please verify (in the file BUGS in
the toplevel) if it isn't already known. Thanks!
Please sent feedback to tipptrainer@pingos.org.

JOIN:
-----
If you are interested helping us developing Tipptrainer, please
have a look at our project page at SourceForge
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/tipptrainer). There you can find
some hints how to help, how to access the CVS repository etc.
We really appreciate any support and help! Would be really nice to
here from you!

INSTALLATION:
-------------
For an installation description, take a look at the INSTALL file.

IMPORTANT HINTS:
================

Default language
----------------
The default language is German when you use a german locale, else English.
This behaviour can be overridden in the settings. If you change that,
read the same section in README.deutsch.

Wrong stroke counting
---------------------
Some people asked because they find that the stroke counting of
Tipptrainer is wrong. Tipptrainer doesn't count the <Shift> key as
separate key. We don't consider this as a bug. We think that the
<Shift> key is needed (in conjunction with another key, though)
exactly to write _one_ char (for instance a capital letter). So we
count both keys as one keystroke.
At the momen, the "sticky" mode is active. That means that wrong
input does not forward in the text until the correct key is hit.
There is only one error counted for a single text char.
In version 0.4.1 and earlier, every wrong input was counted, even
more than one per text char. The current authors opinion is that
this was wrong behaviour. However it will be configurable in a
later version.

WHAT TO DO WHEN HAVING PROBLEMS:
--------------------------------
First, look at the BUGS file. Not every bug is the in the
responsibility of Tipptrainer. Sometimes, it's a bug a missing
feature in a used lib. E.g. GTK1.2 is often a candidate for this.
If you have further questions, comments or tips, please send an
email to tipptrainer@pingos.org.
