PSK31 for Soundblaster/Linux,		                  twpsk V 1.1
(C) 1998-2000

Hansi Reiser - DL9RDZ: base PSK classes and text mode interface
Ted Williams - WA0EIR: graphical X11 interface

based on PSK31-Software by Peter Martinez G3PLX and Andrew Senior G0TJZ

This README file explains the text mode interface psk31lx
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

======================================================================

This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
(at your option) any later version.

If you have suggestions, questions, problems, or have find any bugs,
please feel free to report them to me.
If you want to have a introductory description of PSK31, you should
read the information provided in the MSDOS or Windows software
packages.

======================================================================

To compile the program, simply type 'make' in the source directory.
A executable file named 'psk31lx' should be created.

The software uses /dev/audio for audio input/output, which is correct
in most cases. If you need a different device, you can specify it with
the option '-d <device name>'.

I don't yet provide any possibility to configure the soundcard
parameters like input and output gain or the input selection. You can
use any external program like xmix, xmixer or audiotool to do this.

======================================================================

This software is still in development stage, and parts may eventually
not yet work as they should. Please report any problems to me.
The user interface is kept quite simple, but should be enough for
reasonable work. These keyboard commands are recognized:
Ctrl-A: switch AFC on/off (AFC is only activ is DCD is on)
Ctrl-K: tx-track on/off (tx-freq follows rx-freq)
Ctrl-B: toggle between BPSK and QPSK
Ctrl-P: PASSALL on/off (if PASSALL is on, decoding continues while DCD=off)
Ctrl-D: manually turn DCD on/off
Ctrl-L: toggle between LSB and USB mode (significant for QPSK only)
Ctrl-R: switch to RX, as soon as TX buffer is empty
Ctrl-T: switch to TX mode
Ctrl-W: send CW ID
Ctrl-U: send tuning carrier (toggle on/off)
Cursor: Up/Down= +/-1Hz, PgUp/PgDn= +/- 8Hz
F1..F9: send out text macro defined in psk31.ini

Ctrl-C: terminate the program (immediatly, without confirmation!)

======================================================================

The tuning display in the lower left corner shows the phase changes
in the received signal, with the top representing a 0 phase shift,
and the bottom representing a 180 phase shift. On a idle PSK31-Signal
it should permanently stay at the bottom, with a unmodulated carrier
exactly at the top it will stay. At reasonable SNR, a correctly tuned
QPSK signal should show marks at every 90 position, a BPSK signal
all 180-positions
