<title>Using Cloud Virtual Machines</title>

<p>A cloud virtual machine (<i>cloud VM</i>) is a type of VM that represents an instance on a cloud service. Cloud
VMs are shown in the machine list in <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/vbox-mgr"/>, in the same way as local
VMs are. </p>
<p>By using cloud VMs you can create, manage, and control your <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/oci"/>
instances from <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/vbox-mgr"/>. </p>

<p>Cloud VMs do not install, export, or import instances to the <ph
conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> host. All operations are done remotely on the cloud service. </p>

<p>Cloud VMs can be used to do the following tasks in <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/oci"/>: </p>
