  <title>Starting the <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> Web Service Automatically</title>

  <body>
    <p>The <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> web service, <userinput>vboxwebsrv</userinput>, is used
      for controlling <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> remotely. It is documented in detail in the
        <ph conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> Software Development Kit (SDK). See <xref
        href="VirtualBoxAPI.dita#VirtualBoxAPI"/>. Web service start scripts are available for supported host operating
      systems. The following sections describe how to use the scripts. The <ph
        conkeyref="vbox-conkeyref-phrases/product-name"/> web service is never started automatically as a result of a
      standard installation. </p>
