Since version 2.5 of xisp, support has been added for Solaris 2.5 and
later. The port was carried out on a Sparc-10 running Solaris 2.5. It
won't compile on Solaris 2.4 or earlier due to screwed up header/library
files in these older versions. Tests were performed with two US Robotics
Sportster modems, a 14,400 Baud and a 33,600 Baud model.
- The version of pppd used was from ppp-2.3.5 found at
ftp://cs.anu.edu.au/pub/software/ppp.
- In order to install xisp follow the steps outlined in INSTALL
(there's a section for Solaris in the Makefile).
The Solaris port has room for improvement since I've used the ps(1)
and netstat(8) commands to retrieve information otherwise collected from
/proc nodes under Linux. That was done because I didn't have an incentive
to make the code faster and also didn't feel like searching through the
Solaris documentation for its /proc interface (to substitute the call to
ps(1), that is). Please feel free to contribute alternative faster
replacements. I'll be happy to include them in a future release.
