This is the Debian GNU/Linux prepackaged version of xpcd, a decoder
and viewer for Kodak Photo CD images (*.pcd), put together by

Stephan A Suerken <absurd@debian.org>

See in /usr/[share/]doc/xpcd-gimp/* or /usr/[share/]doc/xpcd-svga/*
for special information about these binary packages.

Upstream source origin
----------------------

Upstream source changes
-----------------------

 None.

xpcd-* Overview
---------------

.deb Upstream	Debian Description

xpcd pcdtoppm	pcdtoppm PhotoCD images converter.
xpcd xpcd xpcd PhotoCD viewer (X).
[(*) xpcd	fbview pcdfbview PhotoCD image viewer (Framebuffer). UNTESTED!]
xpcd-svga	pcdview pcdsvgaview PhotoCD image viewer (SVGA).
xpcd-svga	% pcdsvgaview_photocd	PhotoCD viewer (SVGA).
xpcd-gimp	xpcd-gate	xpcd-gate Gimp plugin - piping images from xpcd to The Gimp.

(*) fbview has been removed from the upstream xpcd package in xpcd-2.08 (into some
other package, as I hear).

Notes on xpcd
-------------

"xpcd" uses the system default xaw (as it should be), though the xpcd
upstream recommends xaw3d for the xpcd binary. However, it runs
flawlessly (and "reasonably nice") with all xaw replacements I know
(i.e.: X11 xaw, xaw3d, xaw95, nextaw).

Misc. Notes
-----------

Xpcd version 2.08 falsely calls itself 2.07 (this is an upstream bug).

JPEG and TIFF support for "xpcd" are optional; i.e., the binary
package's binaries support of these depends on the system they have
been build on.

For multi-language support (controlled by the env. LANG), the
upstream installs different-languaged application default files as
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/<language_id>/app-defaults/Xpcd. I am currently not
sure if this conforms to the Debian Policy, FSSTND, or FHS.

The directory /usr/doc/linux (from the upstream) points out some
possible flaws with certain Linux Kernels and xpcd. These are IMHO
rather outdated, however.
