Xplanet 0.43
Dec 06 1999

You will need to install the Imlib library (www.rasterman.com/files)
to run Xplanet and the Imlib header files to compile Xplanet.

Either OpenGL (www.opengl.org) or Mesa (www.mesa3d.org), along with
GLUT (http://reality.sgi.com/opengl/#glut), needs to be installed. If
you don't have OpenGL and don't want to install it, you can comment
out the call to doAnimate() in xplanet.cc and remove the glutfuncs.cc
entry in the Makefile.

I have supplied a configure script. The usual sequence of
"./configure; make" should build the program. Additional options to
the configure script are:

--with-auxdir=DIR subdirectory under PREFIX containing map and marker
                          files [share/xplanet]
  --with-map-extension=EXTENSION
use EXTENSION as default map extension [.ppm]
--with-markerfile=FILE use (planet-name)-FILE as default marker file
                          [-markers.txt]
--with-gl-dir=DIR Location of OpenGL/Mesa headers and libraries
--with-glut-dir=DIR Location of GLUT headers and libraries
  --with-imlib-prefix=DIR Location of imlib-config
  --with-imlib-exec-prefix=DIR
                          Location of imlib-config
--disable-imlibtest Do not try to compile and run a test IMLIB program

In the event autoconf doesn't work for you, I've also supplied a
Makefile. Check to see that the flags all point to the proper
directories and libraries. If you compile xplanet on a new platform,
I'd appreciate hearing about it.
