Added README.XPM to the Imakefile export list, because it
was missing before. Modified README.BUILD to include where

Renamed select() to cmap_select() in Cmap.c as suggested by
Chris Carlson tp prevent conflict with system select() call.
Removed the static attribute for the local declaration of the
function split_path_string on line 129 of StrToPmap.c also as
suggested by Chris Carlson. Changed $(RANLIB) with RanLibrary
as in Imake.rules to prevent ranlibs for systems whose
archivers do it automatically. Replaced XPointer with
XtPointer in converters/Pen.c and Array/Array.c and renamed
include of <xpm.h> with <X11/xpm.h> in converters/StrToPmap.c
as suggested by Barry Skaggs. Added comment to FileComp.c
and VarArgs.h saying that Xfuncproto.h might need to be
changed to proto.h on some systems.

Histogram had its floats renamed to doubles for some reason
which caused it to break. We better leave them as floats for
compatibility anyway, shouldn't we? Anyway, Histogram is back
using floats again.

Received a few bug reports about wbuild. I didn't understand
either of the reports, but perhaps wbuild is being invoked
because the web files are newer. So, I touched all the src/
.c, .h, and .man files and retarred stuff to see if that helps.

Patched Frame, FileComp, and CanvasT. Renamed REGEXP (and
other Dir inclusion defines) to include FWF to prevent
conflicts with system definitions.

newer than library.

Changed FWF.tmpl as suggested by Mitch D'Souza to define
XPM_LIB to use -l instead of explicitly naming the library
file. Added Bert's PieMenu. Added Bob Forsman's Array
widget. Reorganized converters directory and included Bob's
new Pen & Pmap converters. Added in Bert's new patches.
Finally added Xfwf to FChooser.h. Added dummy "dialog" first

Installed a new set of Bert's widgets & made the tabstring
TextWidth 0 check patch. Changed the src/Imakefile to include
Bert's new widgets. Changed the build structure to build all
objects first, then all execs. Exec building can be disabled
by setting BuildExecs to 0 in FWF.tmpl. Made some of the bug
fixes suggested by Dean Luick (dean@parsifal.natinst.com).
10/16/93 VERSION 3.57
Incorporated patches suggested by Klaus Steinberger for SGI
portability. Modified FWF.tmpl to more easily conditionalize
XPM usage. Now the C define NO_XPM is made whenever HaveXpm
is set to 0 in FWF.tmpl. Modified all the Imakefiles to use
this change. Also created FWF_CFLAGS and FWF_LFLAGS to more
easily support these changes.

Finally installed John Cwikla's changes, including additions
of quickshar and quicktar targets in FWF.rules to make archives
without first deleting Makefiles, modifications to Cmap, and
the new widgets Stack and Mdial.

Unified the shar & tar rules, and updated README.BUILD to
expand on packing the code up into shar & tar files.

Added README.OBTAIN describing ways to obtain FWF widgets
and made minor modifications to other README files. Included
changes to Bert Bos's Common widget to fix some keyboard
traversal bugs, Frame widget which didn't used to take

now contains a shrinkToFit resource. Modified README.BUILD
to discuss pruning the widget library.

Made some changes to FileSelector, mostly in GotoDeepest...
because of some crashes observed by Bob Forsman. I'm not
sure why he was getting crashes, but it looks like opendir()
was failing for him, and this was never checked for. Also
made changes to the Directory and DirMgr code to make more
robust. Also added Xfwf to FChooser #includes.

There were bugs in MultiList SetValues. Too many resources
were causing DestroyOldData and InitializeNewData to be
called. XtSensitive was one of these. Since this doesn't
change the widget data, it shouldn't cause these routines
to be called. This resource & maxSelectable were removed
from the trouble area. maxSelectable currently can't be
dynamically changed. The sensitive resource applies now to
all items.

ScrolledList, and removed the unused font resource. This
code is pretty ugly. I hope it works.

include MKDIRHIER line (commented out). Added SqueakyClean
stuff to delete Makefiles before making a shar file to
reduce the shar size.

Modified SetValues in PixelEditor so that a change in size
of a non-shared image will update the imagePixels resource

As per Gerry Tomlinson's request, the Imakefile for Dir
was changed to add semicolons after the cp commands.

The file names of the components have been changed to be
<= 14 characters long for System V users. This causes some
confusion between widget names and file names. The decision
was made not to change widget names because it would cause
portability problems with existing code, make the names less
identifiable, and would be an all around pain to do. Test
programs end in a 'T' rather than '_test' to save file name
size as well.
The PixelEditor_test program (now called PixEditT) had problems
when loading large bitmaps into a viewport. The server would
chew up huge amounts of memory and go away for about 10
minutes. This does not occur if the PixelEditor widget is
not in a viewport. Because of this, the viewport can be
enabled on the command line now with a -scrollbars option, and
loads will turn off the grid & set the zoom factor to 1.
