To install Yard, issue the following commands:

    su root
    ./configure
    make
    make install
    make customize

By default, the configure script will install files in the following
directories:

    Executables: PREFIX/sbin
    Library (static) files: PREFIX/lib/yard
    Replacement/customizable files: PREFIX/etc/yard
    Main documentation:		       PREFIX/usr/doc/yard-{VERSION}
    Manpages: PREFIX/usr/man/man8

PREFIX is null by default; to change this, give configure a --prefix
argument, such as:
    configure --prefix=/usr/local
Otherwise If you want to change specific directory choices, change their
values at the top of the configure script.

There is documentation of various forms (HTML, PS, text) in the doc
directory. The manpages only exist to satisfy Debian; they just refer the
reader to the main documentation.

The Yard homepage is:
http://www.croftj.net/~fawcett/yard/index.html

Check that page for new versions as well as patches and troubleshooting
tips. I'll also upload versions to metalab.unc.edu, and post announcements
on some combination of Freshmeat, AppWatch and comp.os.linux.announce.
