SCC.C - Linux driver for Z8530 based HDLC cards for AX.25
			Version 2.4c

Kernel versions below 2.0.0 are not supported!

For the English documentation read (sic!) doc/scc_eng.doc
                                          ===============

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important NOTE:
---------------

A version of scc.c that compiles under Linux kernel 2.1.x can
be found in /kernel-2.1.x. Please try not to substitute the
existing driver from the kernel sources with these sources as
they don't fit into the kernel configuration. To build this
driver for kernel 2.1.x:

- copy z8530drv-2.4/kernel-2.1.x/scc.c to z8530drv-2.4/scc.c
- type "make module"

Note that the driver included in the kernel source tree (z8530drv-3.0)
must be compiled as a module or not compiled at all. You'd better
use that driver anyway, unless you really need the TTY driver
support and do not like programs like kissbridge.c or net2kiss.c
to bind an AX.25 network device to a pseudo TTY... But you
really should consider using our Fine Kernel AX.25. ;-)

Er, another warning: The utilities (sccinit, sccparam, sccstat)
in this package are incompatible with the ones for z8530drv-3.0.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(*) New features relative to 2.2:

    - New timer routines give better performance and less tx underruns
    - Fixed channel grouping
    - Rewrote parts of the interrupt service routine (polling mode)
    - Fixed 'maxkeyup'
    - The TxQueue value should show correct values now

(*) The driver does NOT support a simple BayCom MODEM. It needs a
    Z8530 based controller board.

(*) It should at least work with the following Z8530-SCC boards and
    connected MODEMs

    - BayCom USCC

    - PA0HZP card with and without ESCC and/or external clock divider
      (up to 19200 baud (loopback))

    - TCM3105 modem, 4k8 modem, 9k6 DF9IC modem (loopback), HAPN 4k8 modem
(connected to a SCC board, of course!)

The full copyright (-left?) notice is in Copying.Z8530DRV
(please read it, too)

Kernel-Versionen unterhalb 2.0.0 werden nicht untersttzt!

Die deutsche Version der Dokumentation befindet sich in doc/scc_ger.doc
                                                        ===============

Bitte VORHER LESEN!

(*) Neu in Version 2.4:

    - Neue Timer-Routinen: 10 msec-Timerauflsung, verringerte
      Systembelastung, weniger TX-Underruns
    - Kanal-Gruppierung funktioniert jetzt
    - Neue Interrupt-Routine fr Poll-Modus

    - BayCom USCC

    - PA0HZP-Karte mit und ohne ESCC-Chip und/oder Vollduplex-Teiler
(bis 19200 baud im Loopback getestet)

    - TCM 3105 modem, 4k8 modem, 9k6 DF9IC modem (loopback), HAPN 4k8 modem
      (natrlich an eine SCC-Karte angeschlossen!)

Der vollstndige Copyright-Vermerk befindet sich in Copying.Z8530DRV
